Hey Gang!
We have a few items of interest to get out to everyone.
1). Membership renewal is underway. To download the form, along with
instructions, go to: http://www.jrvs.org/files/James_River_Velo_Sport_Membership_Form_2010.doc
2). Our annual Casey Auto Group Criterium will be
held Saturday on May 29th this year (Memorial Day weekend). Details can
be found on our website at: http://www.jrvs.org/Casey_Auto_Group_Criterium_Race_Flyer_2010.html.
Remember, all JRVS members race for free! If you're a licensed USAC racer, just email
me your name, license number and the race(s) you wish to enter. Otherwise, you'll need to
purchase a year or one-day license and either email your number to me then, or print
and fill out the entry form (http://www.jrvs.org/files/casey_criterium_entry_form.jpg)
and hand it to me or mail it to: JRVS-Casey Crit, PO
Box 12072, Newport News, VA 23612.
3). We also need volunteers for our race... and it's a
great way to meet your reimbursement criteria for volunteer hours! During our
January new year meeting we had several come forward, so if you were one,
please reply with your name and what you volunteered. We have the following
positions, most are fairly straight-forward, but will give details to all
volunteers at a later date:
Course Setup and Cleanup (easy work if we have 8-10 people, with guidance from
Cameron Holland). This will be before and after the race - Cameron Holland, Vince Kidd, Ken Sumrell,
Ron Whitenack, Terry Lovell
Registration Booth (likely just two hour shifts, worked in pairs) - Vince Kidd, Betty Whitenack, Steve Simet
Race Announcer-Doc Savage
Certified Officials (at least 2) - Dan Hockenberger, Ted Burke
Medical Coordinator (someone with some previous training or courses,
certification preferred)
Prize Coordinator (someone to gather a few local contributions for additional
race primes)
Prize Distribution - Jim Macdonald
Recycling - Dave Magnant
Refreshments Coordinator (snacks for the team). However, if anyone knows a
group that would like to do a cookout or sell food for a fund-raiser (scouting,
YMCA, school organizations, etc.) please let me know!
4). And finally... Ron Whitenack,
the JRVS Education Coordinator, needs to know if any riders have changed their
race status (moved up in CAT, decided not to race, or are new CAT 5 racers)
this year. If you have any questions or would like to fill-out/update the http://www.jrvs.org/files/JRVS_Team_Questionnaire_2010.doc
form, please email to Ron at aWhitena@Hotmail.com.
If you have any question or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your time!
